John E. "Jack" Anderson, 83, of Monticello, passed away at 6:40pm on June 23, 2009 at the Piatt County Nursing Home.

Graveside service will be held at 10:00am on Saturday, June 27, 2009 at the Monticello Township Cemetery with Military Rites.  Mackey-Wright Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.

Jack was born on July 23, 1925 in Victor, NY, the son of James and Caroline (Wilbur) Anderson.  He married Bernice Martin on August 24, 1946 in Monticello.

Surviving is his wife: Bernice Anderson of Monticello, daughters: Barb Hollis of Monticello and Diane Anderson of Park Ridge, son: David Anderson of Monticello, 3 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild, brother: James Anderson of Victor, NY and sister: Mary Lou Garlock of Victor, NY.  He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 son (Richard "Dick" Anderson), 1 brother (Robert "Robby" Anderson), and 2 sisters (Doris & Geraldine).

Jack was a farmer and seed corn salesman for Pioneer for 45 years.  He served in the U.S. Army Air Corp as a Sergeant during WWII, stationed in China and India.  He was a member of the American Legion and the VFW.  He was one of the original founders of the Piatt County Trailblazers, showing prize winning Holsteins at the State and County Fairs, and loved boating.

Memorials may be made to the Piatt County Nursing Home, SPOHNC (Support for People with Oral and Head and Neck Cancer) or a donor's choice.
