John Stanley Mackey, 70
Mar 28, 2008

John Stanley Mackey, 70, of Cisco, passed away March 27, 2008 at his home in Cisco.

Visitation will be Sunday from 3:00pm to 6:00pm with funeral services Monday at 10:30am at the Mackey-Wright Funeral Home in Monticello.  Interment will be at the Croninger Cemetery in Cisco, Illinois.

John was born June 19, 1937 in rural Cisco to Stanley Mackey and Twila Valentine Mackey.  He married Marilyn Benjamin on December 22, 1962 in Cisco.  She survives along with his mother, sons, Byron (Jo Ann) Mackey of Seymour, Craig (Liz) Mackey of Grand Ridge, daughter Karen (Jonathon) Bonness of Grandview, MO, brother Joe (Jean) Mackey of Pekin and sisters, Jean (Dick) Clark of Coarsegold, CA and Joyce Boeringer, Titusville, FL.  Also surviving are his beloved grandchildren John, Benjamin, Carter, Grace, Tyler and Calista.  He was preceded in death by his father.

Mr. Mackey was a life-time farmer in the Cisco area and he worked at ADM Decatur for 17 years until his retirement in 2003.  He coached Little League for several years and he enjoyed competitive horse shoe pitching, fast pitch softball and camping.  John, like his father, was an avid collector of antique tools and farm tractors.  He participated in several antique tractor drives and he displayed his tool and tractor collections at numerous shows and exhibits.  He was actively involved in all his children's activities including 4-H, Madrigals and sports.

John was a member of the Cisco United Methodist Church, the I & I Tractor Club, the Ford Fordson Collectors Association, and he was on the Willow Branch Township Board.  He enjoyed watching Illini basketball, Cubs baseball and playing Pinochle with his friends and family.  John never met a stranger and he valued his relationships with his family and friends above everything else.

Memorials can be made to the Carle Cancer Center or donor's choice.
