MINUTES OF THE CITY COUNCIL MEETING OF August 24, 2009
The minutes of the regularly scheduled Monticello City Council Meeting of August 24, 2009 held in Council Chambers of the Municipal Building in Monticello, Piatt County, Illinois.

Mayor Corrie led the Council in the Pledge of Allegiance.
Motion was made by Alderman Eades, seconded by Alderman Mitze to approve the August 2009 Claims Report, Statement of Income and Expenses of July 31, 2009, August 10, 2009 City Council Meeting Minutes Motion Carried.
In the Mayor’s Report, Mayor Corrie stated that the Back to School Carnival went well. Monticello Day at the State Fair was a success. The city wide food drive will be coming up in October. School has started and people need to be aware of children in crossing zones.
In old business, Alderman Eades asked about in future meetings to include the backflow preventer discussions. Alderman Hayes asked to discuss changing the permit and licensing fees. It has been a long time since they have been changed.
Council went into a public hearing at 7:10pm to let the public put there input in on the Kirby Hospital Special Service Area. No comments were made and council came out of public hearing at 7:12pm.
A motion was made by Alderman Mitze, seconded by Alderman Murdock to approve Resolution 2009-40. A resolution that approves the release of closed session meeting minutes for public viewing. Motion Carried.
A motion was made by Alderman Murdock, seconded by Alderman Hayes to approve Ordinance 2009-41. An ordinance that approves the installation of stop signs, in the Apple Tree Subdivision. Motion Carried.
A motion was made by Alderman Hiller, seconded by Alderman Kuetemeyer to approve Ordinance 2009-42. An ordinance that approves an update to the Municipal Code #3. Motion Carried.
A motion was made by Alderman Mitze, seconded by Alderman Murdock to approve Ordinance 2009-43. An ordinance to approve the city to have a surplus sale of various city properties. Motion Carried.
In the Alderman reports, Alderman Hayes read from an Abraham Lincoln article. He also stated that the JFL football team had won both of their games on Sunday. There are 327 children registered for Fall Soccer. Alderman Hiller stated that the new El Toro Mexican restaurant is now open. Alderman Mitze read the monthly Police Report.
A motion was made by Alderman Hayes, seconded by Alderman Eades to Adjourn at 8:25pm. Motion Carried.
