Former Champaign Central and Parkland College standout Zach McNabney will take over at the helm of the Parkland College Golf Program.  McNabney becomes the seventh coach since the program was established in 1979.  A successful golfer for Parkland from 1987 to 1989 under longtime Coach Greg Thom, McNabney has been a mainstay on the local golf scene for many years and has played in numerous state and local tournaments.  A highlight was his top 15 finish at the 1997 State Amateur Golf Tournament.  He has assisted with the Champaign Centennial girl's team for the past four seasons.

After graduating from Parkland, McNabney earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Illinois State University and has worked most recently as an AVP Mortgage originator at Bank Champaign.  He has taught courss part-time at Parkland; has worked on the board of the Parkland College Foundation; and recently finished his second term as president of the Crisis Nursery board.  McNabney will begin work at Coldwell Banker-Devonshire Realty later this month.  He and his wife Lisa have two daughters, Marielle and Isabelle.

"I've gotten to know Zach over the last several years, and he is enthusiastic about the opportunity to coach at Parkland," Athletics Director Rod Lovett said.  "We've discussed the possibility of coaching at Parkland in the past, and the timing was right this time for him to accept the position.  I'm confident that his knowledge of the game, dedication to Parkland, and ability to work with young people will bode well for his success as the coach of the golf program."
