Opal M. Scott, 93 of Bement, passed away at 1:25am Sunday, June 29, 2008 at the Piatt County Nursing Home.

Graveside service will be at 11:00am Tuesday, July 1, 2008 at the Bement Township Cemetery with Rev. Art Woolley officiating.  There will be no visitation.  Mackey-Wright Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.

Opal was born January 20, 1915 in Bement, Illinois, the daughter of William and Carrie (Renfrow) Shumard.  She married Roy Scott.  Surviving is her daughter-in-law Carol Scott of Bement, 2 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.  She is also survived by 3 brothers, Guy Shumard of Bement, Bill Shumard of Decatur, and Troy Shumard, and 1 sister Viloet Humes of Urbana.  Opal was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 2 sons (Daniel and Rod), 2 sisters and 4 brothers.

Opal was a line worker (pinner) for Collegiate Cap and Gown Company for 36 years.  She was a member of the Christian Church of Bement and a St. Louis Cardinals fan.  Memorials may be made to an organization of the donor's choice.
