Norma Jean Manint, 83 of Bement, passed away at 1:15am Tuesday, June 24, 2008 at Kirby Hospital.

Funeral Mass will be at 10:00am Friday, June 27, 2008 at the St. Philomena Catholic Church in Monticello with Fr. Bruce Lopez officiating.  Visitation will be from 6:00 - 8:00pm Thursday, June 26, 2008 at the Mackey-Wright Funeral Home with a Rosary service at 5:30pm.  Interment will be at Grandview Memorial Gardens in Champaign.

Norma was born March 21, 1925 in Seymour, the daughter of John W. and Ida M. (Fosnaugh) Dubson.  She was the youngest of seven sisters and four brothers.  She married Albert L. Manint of New Orleans, LA on June 12, 1943 in Fisher, IL.  He passed away July 24, 1990 in Bement.

She is survived by four sons: Gerald A. (Ruth Ann) Manint of Bement, Sheriff Robert J. (Diana) Manint, Dr. James E. (Cathy) Manint, and Lt. State Police Albert L. (Sarah) Manint, all of Monticello, three daughters: Joanne S. (Jon) Adams of Bement, Linda J. (Don) Brandon of Pazton, and Joyce M. (Patrick) Quinlan of Ludlow.  She is also survived by 15 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and a brother: John E. Dubson of Champaign County Nursing Home.  Norma was preceded in death by her parents, husband, six sisters (Bessie M. Keller, Merrian E. Lourash, Pearle L. Hinton, Helen E. Grammer, Dorothy I. Belcher, Doris M. Adams, and Mildred P. Hill), three brothers (Wesley A. Dubson and two infant brothers) and one infant son.

Mrs. Manint retired from the USAF Hospital, Chanute AFB in May 1985 after 21 years of service as receptionist at the Base Dental Clinic; Secretary at the Fire Protection Training School and Supervisor of the Medical Transcription Department.  She was later employed as Transcriptionist for the Investigator of Piatt County Sheriff's Department, Monticello for four and a half years.  She was an active member of St. Philomena Catholic Church in Monticello.

She was an avid gardner, enjoyed cooking and was devoted to her family.

Memorials may be made to Kirby Hospital or the Piatt County Nursing Home.
