Baseball Coach Mitch Rosenthal has accepted a full-time scouting position with the magazine Prep Baseball Report, while Golf Coach Tim Hoss plans to spend more time concentrating on his work as a local realtor.

Rosenthal spent four successful years at the helm of the Cobras, compiling a record of 179-61-1 (.740) while winning two M-WAC titles, two Region 24 championships, and a North District title.  In 2005 he guided the Cobras to a 2nd place finish at the NJCAA World Series.  While at Parkland, Rosenthal coached seven NJCAA All-Americans and numerous players moved on to four-year institutions.  Rosenthal came to Parkland after a stint as an assistant coach at Eastern Illinois University.

Hoss recendly completed his second spring season at Parkland, having won the M-WAC title by one stroke just a week ago.  Hoss had two players, David Sebestik and Michael Davan, qualify as individuals for the NJCAA National Gold Tourney.  For most of this season, Parkland's golf team was ranked among the top 12 NJCAA D-II teams.  Hoss joined the Cobra staff after guiding the team at The School of St. Thomas More in Champaign.

"Mitch did a great job of continuing and building the tradition of the Cobra Baseball program," said Parkland Athletic Director, Rod Lovett.  "Although I am sad to see him go, this was an opportunity he wanted to pursue, and I wish him the best."  Lovett said he has already been contacted by several strong candidates for Rosenthal's position, "and I anticipate we will have a coach in place by early June."

About Hoss, Lovett said the coach "improved the talent level in the program and has taken the program in the right direction" despite his short term as a Cobra coach.  "The golf job at PC is part-time, and I certianly understand Tim's desire to concentrate on his full-time job and his own golf career."
