Robert E. Jorgensen, age 88, of Monticello, passed away at 9:25pm, Saturday, April 19, 2008 at the Piatt County Nursing Home.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00am Thursday, April 24, 2008 at teh Monticello United Methodist Church with Rev. Michael Eischen officiating.  Visitation will be from 6:00 - 8:00 with Masonic Service at 7:45pm on April 23, 2008 at the Mackey-Wright Funeral Home.  Interment will be in Park Hill Cemetery in Bloomington, IL at 3:00pm. 

Robert was born August 11, 1919 in Chicago, the son of Robert E. and Gyda (Johnson) Jorgensen.  He married Mary E. DuBois on June 24, 1942 in Springfield.  He is survived by his wife: Mary E. "Betty" Jorgensen of Monticello, sons: Richard E. (Linda) Jorgensen of Jonesboro, AR, Robert D. (Anne) Jorgensen of Kent, OH, David A. (Kelly) Jorgensen of Interlochen, MI, daughter: Mary E. Jorgenseon of Bloomington, and five grandchildren: Bethany, Meredith, Laura, Andrew and Trevor.  He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters.

Robert retired as Supervisor of Music for Urbana Public Schools and also worked as an Insurance Agent for Mass Mutual.  Robert was also a music teacher in Bloomington and Lewiston.  He served with the U.S. Navy during WWII.  Robert was a summer employee at teh Interlochen Center for the Arts.  Robert received his Bachelor & Masters Degrees from Illinois Wesleyan University where he was a member of the Phi Mu Alpha fraternity.  Robert was a member of the Monticello Masonic Lodge #58 AF & AM, Monticello VFW Post #5346, along with being a past President of the Monticello Lions Club.  Robert was also a member of the Illinois Grade School Music Association, the American Bandmasters Association, and Phi Beta Mu. 

Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association or the Monticello United Methodist Church.
