Gary L. Walker, 65 of Monticello, died at 1:17 p.m. Tuesday, March 11, 2008 at his residence.

Funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, March 17, 2008 at the Mackey-Wright Funeral Home.  Visitation will be 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Sunday, March 16, 2008 at Mackey-Wright Funeral Home.  Interment will be in Monticello Township Cemetery with Military Graveside Rites.

Gary was born December 25, 1942 in Monticello, a son of Charles A. and Vernice (Dyson) Walker.  Surviving is his mother; Vernice Dyson Funk of Monticello, son; Steve A. Walker of Germany, daughter; Jamie Moreno of Beverly Hills, FL., 3 grandchildren, sister; Vickie Martin of Champaign, and very special friend Ethel Carney of Monticello.

Gary was preceded in death by his father.

Mr. Walker retired from the U.S. Army as a Sergeant Major, after serving 28 years, during which time he served in Vietnam. 

Memorials may be made to the Humane Society or White Heath United Methodist Church.
