Daniel S. Dubson, 78 of Monticello, died at 7:45 p.m., Monday, March 10, 2008 at Kirby Hospital in Monticello.
Graveside service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 13, 2008 at Grandview Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Champaign, with Rev. Jim Dalrymple officiating. There will be no visitation. Mackey-Wright Funeral Home, Monticello, is handling the arrangements.
Daniel was born April 15, 1929 in Monticello, a son of Daniel Sherman and Myrtle (Wood) Dubson. He married Thelma Fowler on April 17, 1949 in Bloomington.
Surviving are his wife; Thelma Dubson of Monticello, sons; Rick (Melinda) Dubson and Terry (Kristie) Dubson, both of Monticello, daughter; Trudy (Jeff) Maden of Monticello, 4 grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Daniel was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers (Willie, Carl and Joe Dubson), and 6 sisters (Pearl Nelson, Violet Strohl, Dorothy Dubson, Doris Brown, Mary Chalk, and Helen Newberry).
Mr. Dubson served in the U.S. Navy from 1946 - 1948. Then he was employed at Tylac in Monticello from 1948-1952, and at Kratz Farms, Inc. from 1952 until he retired in 1994. After retirement he worked for Strohl Ford/Rick Ridings from 1994-2007. He was a member and past member of the Masonic Fraternal Lodge #58 AF & AM of Monticello, Past President and member of the Monticello Jaycees, and a member of the Monticello Fire Department from 1949 - 1952.
