Parkland College Hosting Series of Workshops

The Counseling and Advising Center is hosting a series of free workshops for spring, from 1 to 2 p.m. in Room D105 (unless otherwise noted). Enjoy light refreshments and raffles for great prizes at each workshop! All workshops are free and open to everyone (unless otherwise noted), but advance registration is suggested. Register by calling 217/351-2237, by coming to the center in Room A251, or by emailing jshumate@parkland.edu.

SPRING 2008 WORKSHOPS

Feb. 11:   OVERCOMING TEST ANXIETY (for Health Professions students): 12 noon to 1 p.m., Room L111. Improve your test-taking skills! Learn test preparation techniques and test anxiety management skills from Becky Osborne.

Feb. 14:   NOTE-TAKING STRATEGIES. Learn how to take more efficient, effective notes and how to better use your notes when preparing for tests.

Feb. 18:   NOTE-TAKING STRATEGIES (for Health Professions students): 12 noon to 1 p.m., Room L111. Learn how to take more efficient, effective notes and how to better use your notes when preparing for tests.

Feb. 25 :   MATH ANXIETY (for Health Professions students): 12 noon to 1 p.m., Room L111. Face those fears and come away with new strategies to approach and understand math.

March 6:   OVERCOMING TEST ANXIETY. Improve your test taking skills! Learn test preparation techniques and test anxiety management skills from Becky Osborne. 

Mar. 13 :   MATH ANXIETY. Face those fears and come away with new strategies to approach and understand math.  

Mar. 27:   YOU AND THE LAW. Learn the facts on drinking and driving, what to do if you’re stopped by the police and much more. Come join us and bring your questions!

Apr. 10:   STOP, THINK, and THEN ACT. There are simple techniques you can use to help curve impulsive behaviors; find out more.

Mar. 11:   Anxiety Screening Panel and Presentation, 12 noon to 1 p.m., Room D244. 

Apr. 24:   Minority Student Recognition Celebration, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Room D244.
