Richard (Dick) Bolin was born November 14, 1929 on a farm near Hallsville, IL to Inez and Leslie Bolin. During the Depression, he was raised by a number of families and the Cunningham Children's Home, to the age of 6 years.
Mr. Bolin has been a farm hand most of this life along with being a sailor, salesman, railroad brakeman, songwriter, novelist, musician, and traveler of the world.
Mr. Bolin was a Navy Veteran. He was a Boatswain Mate Third Class, serving from 1946 until 1952 during the Cold War and serving in the Korean War from 1950 - 1951. He is a member of the American Legion Post #0102 of DeLand and a lifetime member of the VFW Post #6190 of Farmer City.
Richard is survived by his children; Linda Fonder of Grafton, WI, Daniel R. Bolin of Bement, Lori Ann Weaver of Weldon, and 2 grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother; John Bolin of Carmel, IN, 2 half-brothers, Gerald White of Bloomington and Paul Bolin of Decatur, anda half-sister, CHarlotte Caster of Noblesville, IN.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Lisa Kay, sister Divona Wrather, father Leslie Bolin, mother Inez White, and step-father, Henry White.
A memorial service will be held at 1:30pm Sunday, September 5, 2010 at the Mackey-Wright Funeral Home in Monticello.
