James Everett Hicks, Sr. 95, of Monticello, passed away at 9:25am Thursday, August 12, 2010 at Kirby Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00pm Monday, August 16, 2010 at the Mackey-Wright Funeral Home.  Visitation will be from 6:00 - 8:00pm Sunday, August 15, 2010 at the Mackey-Wright Funeral Home.  INterment will be in Monticello Township Cemetery.

James was born June 16, 1915 in Gays, Illinois, the son of Luther and Minta (Wright) Hicks.  He married Helen M. Barlow February 14, 1943 in White Heath, Illinois and she passed away May 3, 1980.  He married Catherine on September 2, 2000 and she preceded him March 27, 2005.

Surviving are his children Jim (Becky) Hicks of Monticello and Jo Ellen Funk of Monticello, Illinois.  11 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild; 1 brother, Oscar Hicks of Kingmen, AZ, 1 sister-in-law, Weona Hicks, along with several nieces and nephews.  James was preceded by his parents, both wives and 3 brothers.

James was retired from Heath's Implement dealer where he was a machinery assembler.  James was a member of the Lions and of the Moose of Decatur.
