Jul 12, 2010

Now that summer is finally here, it's time to start thinking about the fall activities, including the City of Monticello Junior Football League (JFL) and Youth Soccer registrations around the corner.

With 2009 Conference champions in both divisions, the Monticello JFL program helps prepare future athletes for the Monticello High School Football program.  There are two traveling teams: Lightweights (5th & 6th grade) and Hevyweights (7th & 8th grade).  All home games take place on the Monticello High School Football Field typically on Wednesday evenings or Sunday afternoons.  JFL registration will take place on Thursday, July 15th at 6:00pm at the Municipal Building.  There is a $70 participation fee and practice starts July 26th, 2010.

The Parks and Recreation Department will be accepting registration forms for the Youth Soccer League July 19th through 22nd.  Children who will be entering Kindergarten through 8th grade this upcoming school year are invited to participate.  Games are held Saturday mornings at the Monticello High School Dwight B. Wilkey Sports Complex this fall.  There is a $40 participation fee which includes a team t-shirt.  Forms may be picked up at the Municipal Building, or may be downloaded off the City of Monticello website, www.cityofmonticello.net.  All forms, along with the participation fee must be returned to the Municipal Building by 5:00pm on July 23rd.  Unfortunately, no late registrations will be accepted.

Head and assistant coaches are always needed.  Contact the Recreation Department at 762.2583 if you are interested in volunteering your time!
