Elma Evelyn Allen, 83 of Monticello passed away at 8:57am Friday, March 5, 2010 at the Piatt County Nursing Home.

Visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:00am Monday, March 8, at the Calvary Baptist Church, Bridge and Foothill Streets, Monticello.  Funeral services will be at 11:00am Monday, also at the Calvary Baptist Church.  Pastor Randy Dempsay will officiate.  Burial will be in the Monticello Township Cemetery.

Memorial contributions can be made to the American Diabetes Association.

Elma was born on November 17, 1926 in Flora, a daughter of Jerome and Nancy Jane Blair Bailey.  She married Edward Allen on May 22, 1944 in Weldon and he passed away on February 2, 1985.

Surviving children include Kenny Burgess (Theresa A.) Allen and Brenda Carol Allen, both of Monticello, as well as eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.  Also surviving is a sister, Doris (Walt) Cresap of Monticello.

Elma was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sons (Dennis Edward Allen and Frederick Dale Allen), as well as six brothers and three sisters.

Elma was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church, Monticello, as was a farm wife and beautician.

Roux-Hinds Funeral Home, 348 N. Piatt St., Bement, has been entrusted with the family's loved one for Elma's services.
